Migration to new Data Center - April 25, 2008

Our Dallas Center is not performing as it should.  We feel bad about this development, but the good news is that we are moving into a new location which has had a successful record.
Over the last 12 months there have been several power failures and a Storage Area Network (SAN) failure which were caused by failing components in the datacenter.  While no data was lost, the resultant down time was regrettable and completely unacceptable.

This data center will house our servers which are similar to the ones being used in Chicago.  However, these will be newer processors and possess additional RAM. Currently your VPS is running on a single, quad core processor (4CPU) Clovertown system with 8GB ram and a raid 10 SAS system (10K RPM drives) and single power supply units. 

The new Dallas location will feature Dual/Quad Core Processor (8CPU) featuring Harpertown processors which is the latest processor from Intel. They will have 16GB RAM, raid 10 SAS arrays with 15K RPM drives as well as redundant power supply units.  We're delighted with this capability as it will perform to the high expectations that we all expect.

This change of the Dallas data center will result in changes to your IP addresses, but the advantages will far outweigh the disadvantages by providing enhanced reliability.  Obviously we want this transition to go smoothly for you.  Our goal is to insure the minimal impact on your operations.

We understand that this is a disruption and we appreciate your patience throughout the process. We believed that this option will provide a very real and improved reliability as well as enhanced capabilities.  We are confident you will be pleased with the significant performance boost provided by the transfer to the new data center.
